Walton Robotics

Walton Robotics Team students are familiar to East Cobb Rotarians. The full team of 40+ students competes each year in an annual challenge in which they have six weeks to design and build a competition-ready robot. They have won at their regional competition which sent them to the world championship event where they were recognized for engineering and outreach achievements. The team has received the prestigious Coopertition Award for its professionalism and efforts to help other teams, and the Outreach Award for its exemplary community outreach program.

Team WALT is student run, and they live by the motto, "If the students don't do it, it doesn't get done." In addition to robotics, the students create an annual business plan and are responsible for their own marketing. They also are required to participate in service and community outreach activities, including tutoring and mentoring students at Brumby Elementary School.

In light of their Rotary-like mission and purpose, leadership focus, service involvement, and connection with Brumby, it seems only fitting that our club continues as a $1,500 sponsor for a fourth year in a row. The team's robot proudly displays the Rotary logo and name of the Rotary Club of East Cobb, along with its other sponsors, and the team gives robot demonstrations at the East Cobb Rotary Dog Days road race. To say the least, they are a favorite for both kids and adults.
