Bocce Ball Tournment

On Saturday March 21st the Cammila Rotary Club will host its annual Bocce Ball Tournment for special needs adults in conjunction with the Mitchell Baker Service Center and Westwood School. The Club has hosted the Tournment for the last 10 years. We anticipate that 150 special needs adults from Southwest Georgia will participate, comming from Albany, Thomasville, Moultrie and Cairo, in addition to Camilla. Westwood students and Rotarians will set up the courts and assist with the competion. Rotarians will cook and serve food for all and clean up after the event. Based on past years we anticipate that 30 to 35 Rotarians will participate, each commiting some 2 hours of their time, and that 50 to 60 Westwood students will participate.

The athletes have a blast at the Tournment. It is one of their favorate Special Olympic events. They recieve trophys, lunch, a t-shirt and get to make new friends.

Rotary is listed as a sponsor on t-shirts which are given all athletes and volunteers. We anticipate the tournment will be publized in the Service Center's newsletter which is sent to some 300 businesses and individuals and in the Camilla Enterprise, our local newspaper. Details of the Tournment will also posted on the Service Center's Facebook page which has some 600 followers. A copy of the newsletter coverage from last year is attached. Essentially the same article was published in the Enterprise. Pictures from last year's Tournment are attached.
